| I had the holiday of a lifetime, the scenery is stunning and the weather great, and what fabulous shopping, wow! It was cool! Rent a 4X4 and really see this fab place. |

| I'm only 26 and had never driven abroad before. Skiathos is one of the most beautiful and easiest places to drive ever! Only one main road round the island and what a lovely view! All coastal! The only problems are the Taxi Drivers - they are a little erratic! Also watch out for silly people hiring mopeds (when advised strongly not to). Other than that I would recommend driving in Skiathos to anyone! Happy driving! Tessa xxxx |

| After landing on the shortest International runway in Greece, the best way for singles to get around Skiathos is to hire a bike. If, like me, you come equipped with a wife and kids however, a car is the best, and the occasional bus trip is great fun. |
Skiathos Overview |
| A fun place with glorious beaches, scenic beauty, and marvellous climate, Skiathos has been attracting tourists since its development in 1960 when the wealthy crowd found out about it, today the emphasis is more on the bucket and spade brigade and direct package flights, which has done away with the exclusivity of the island. |

Skiathos Essentials |
Skiathos Town – Red-tiled roofs and winding cobbled streets, restored sea captains houses draped with bougainvillea, and excellent shopping make up this picturesque town.
North coast – Pine trees, olive groves and deserted monasteries and churches make up the northern part of the island where birdsong is paramount and tourists are few.
Bourtzi – The islet separating the twin harbours of Skiathos was once a fortress but over time has become a cultural centre and hosts the annual Aegean festival of dance.
Panagia Kardasi – This tiny 19th century chapel with its blue star-studded ceiling stands high above Kastro, in the far northern reaches of the island.
Transport – From buses and taxis to rented mules, bicycles, mopeds, and every possible form of transport, allow tourists to explore the island.

Skiathos Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Aegean festival of Dance – (Summer) Celebrated on Bourtzi islet.
The Assumption of the Virgin Mary – (August) Festival commemorating the Assumption.
