Useful Tips |
| Scenic drives - by Shelley from Toronto |
| A key benefit of driving on the peripheral coast road which circumnavigates the island is the effortless access to every part of Paros. Doing this you discover different places outside the towns and find your own favourite part of the island : an isolated cove, a special taverna, an exciting festival, a little village resort or merely a view that takes your breath away. |
Paros Overview |
| Once a leading centre in the marble trade modern day Paros finds the tourist trade more lucrative, being the nucleus of the Cycladic ferry system, and the site of charming hill villages, olive groves and vineyards. Traces of Byzantium and Venetian rule, old monasteries and tall mountains, fishing harbours and long stretches of beach, and a nightlife that is considered about the best in all of the Greek Islands, draws thousands of visitors from around the globe to this paradise in the Mediterranean. |

Paros Essentials |
Ekatonapyliani (Church of a Hundred Doors) – This important Byzantium monument is meant to have 99 doors and windows and when the 100th door is found Istanbul will be returned to the Greeks.
Paroikia – Narrow paved alleys, cascading jasmine from window boxes and medieval archways are part of the charm of this otherwise highly commercialised resort.
Archaeological Museum – Located behind the Ekatonapyliani is a museum exhibiting the precious Parian Chronicle, a engraved marble tablet recording the artistic accomplishment of ancient Greece until 264 BC.
Parika – Being the centre of the transportation system this tourist friendly town is an excellent base for exploring the island.
Wind surfing – During the months of July and August powerful winds lift and carry windsurfers high over the beaches of Paros. |

Paros Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary – (August) Parades of boats lit up with flares and fireworks.
Agia Theoktisti Saints Day – (November) A celebration of the patron saint. |
