Useful Tips |

| Get a good map, the roads are really good and you only have to watch out for crazy scooter drivers who are sometimes reckless. Corfu is fabulous and the nightlife is simply tops. |

| I believe that a car is the most flexible way of exploring. The roads in Corfu are a little challenging (pot-holes, hairpin bends, laden donkeys and the finest quality cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil from the Olive trees that line the road) but well worth the effort! Always carry your driving license, especially using a rental vehicle, and if you do not have a new 'photo' version, then I would also recommend carrying your passport. |

| Rather hire a scooter instead of a car when you arrive, it gives you much more freedom and allows you to explore those narrow little roads that cars cannot get onto. Plus they are easier to drive and cheaper on petrol. I will never forget the scenery I experienced and look forward to my next biking experience :-) |
Corfu Overview |
Corfu is situated to the north of the Ionian Sea, at the entrance to the Adriatic. It has the largest population of the group of seven Greek islands known as the Ionian Islands. Developed yet unspoilt, Corfu has many fantastic attractions, whatever your tastes.
From the ancient olive groves to the thrilling nightlife of Kavos, Corfu offers something for everyone, but it is the luxurious sandy beaches and crystal clear blue water which really set Corfu apart from other holiday destinations. Corfu is also individual, with strong Italian and British influences combined with Greek tradition to produce a wonderful experience. |

Corfu Essentials |
Corfu Town - The islands capital is filled with fantastic buildings, some old, some new but all delightful. With fantastic architecture as well as great restaurants and bars this really is one of Greece’s most stylish cities.
Achilleio - Built for Empress Elizibeth of Austria in 1891, this neo-classical building takes its name for the empress’s fondness for Achilles, her favourite hero. Throughout this interesting building there are monuments to Achilles, the most substantial being an enormous statue.
Archeological Musuem - This good museum is made great by its wonderful by its Gorgon Medusa sculpture, without doubt one of the best pieces of its type in all of Greece.
Nisaki - A delightful town with a small pebble beach. Those who know the island say that Nisaki has some of the best bars in Corfu.
Palaiokastritsa - Although originally formed in the 13th Century, almost everything in the
Monastery was build inside the last 200 years and it is a fine example of monastic architecture. |

Corfu Calendar - Pick of the Year's Events |
Greek Easter (March/April) - Easter is celebrated with much vigour on Corfu. The mummified body of the towns’ patron saint, Saint Spyridon, is giving an airing on Easter Sunday and candlelight processions take place on Good Friday.
Unification Day (21st of May) - Much celebration throughout the Ionian islands but nowhere more so that Corfu town. Military marches and parades are central to these fantastic celebrations.
